Siargao is a small island in the Philippine Sea situated in the province of Surigao del Norte in Mindanao. This island is known as the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines” as the huge waves from the Pacific Ocean make their way to the island's reefs and shores. These waves make the island well known as a popular destination for surfing, rest, and relaxation. But, it is surely more than just that! All around the island, local businesses and residents live up to a common advocacy: to keep Siargao clean and green and to promote a healthy lifestyle as one rides the waves. Surfers, locals, and even resort owners participate in weekly clean-ups for the beaches. Tourists may also voluntarily take part in the said clean-up activities. Aside from that, resorts and restaurants use only, as much as possible, organic ingredients for their food. And, they also promote recycling as they use Eco-friendly metal straws and wooden bowls to lower the rate of plastic consumption.

So, how do you get there? From Mactan-Cebu International Airport, it is a 45-minute to one-hour flight away. By sea, it is a 12-hour overnight trip by a RoRo sea vessel. Once you get there, the means of transportation only include a van or a habal-habal motorcycle. However, you may rent a motorcycle for php 300 per day or rent a bicycle if you just want to cycle around the island beneath the warmth of the sun and just get lost in the breathtaking views all around the island.

Harana Surf Resort is one of the many resorts situated in the island of Siargao. Its location is one hour away from the airport, yet it is only 20 minutes away from Siargao's main surfing area, Cloud 9. Harana Surf Resort’s rooms provide utmost comfort after a tiring day of surfing and going around the island. Their food, along with all the other food places on the island, truly promote and live up to the island’s advocacy as well. These are healthy and nutritious, and come in very reasonable prices just like the Bravo Restaurant, located in another resort on the island.

Have you seen the prettiest food bowls on the island? These power bowls are sold at Shaka Restaurant, just across Cloud 9! Check out the photos below and see for yourself how these power bowls can not only be satisfying to one's eyes but may also satisfy one’s energy needs for a day of surfing ahead!
